Day 1

Transfer Madrid – O Cebreiro.
Pick up from Madrid Barajas airport MAD and 4 h drive to O Cebreiro (or Molinaseca). O Cebreiro is a village with ritch history. In the region Os Ancares,  1.300 m above the sea level there is protected area of National Artistic and Historical value established for preservation “Pallozas”. Palloza is a round, stone building, most likely with Celtic origin and traditional for north-east Spain. Depending on arrival time we may visit the Chapple Santa María A Real which is considered to be the oldest intact church along the whole Camino and a home to a 14th century miracle when the bread turned to flesh and the wine became blood. This became known locally as  Galician Holy Grail. We will try famous O Cebreiro cheese. Diner and overnight in Molinaseca or O Cebreiro

Day 2

O Cebreiro – Tricastela – Samos, 30 km (21+9).
After breakfast we will leave O Cebreiro riding on the stone pathways up to Alto de San Roque with its bronze statue of a Pilgrim. Crossing a wonderfull landscape we stop for a lunch in little village of Tricastela. In the afternoon we head to Samos bordering the Sarriá River and surrounded by oaks and chestnut trees. We visit IX century Chappel of Cypress and VII century Monastery of San Xulián de Samos which was the School of Theology and Philosophy and an important stop on the Camino de Santiago. We will have a taste of famous local trout and eels. Dinner and acomodation: Samos

Day 3

Samos – Barbadela – Portomarin, 32  km. (22+9)
 After breakfast we leave the fertile Samos Valley to reach Sarria, the village that lays in the minimum distance (100km) from Santiago to obtain Pilgrim certificate. Arriving to  Barbadelo we will stop for a lunch and to visit Church of Santiago de Barbadelo a Galician Romanesque 9th cantury church. Continiue alongside river Lucense, a wild landscape with spectacular viewpoints, lost villages, centuries-old villas, hundreds of wineries overlooking the river from the stone terraces, enchanted paths between forests and valleys. We cross the bridge over the River Miño arriving to Portomain. We may be able to see some of the old town floded in 1962 when the damm was buildt. Dinner and acomodation in Portomain.

Day 4

Portomarin – Ligonde- Palas de Rei, 25Km.
After the breakfast we continue through the ancient oak and pine forests to reach Ligonde, a place famous for hosting King Carlos V in 1520 and his son Felipe II in 1554. Nearby was a Pylgrim hospital and the ancient Pylgrim cementary still can still be visited nowadays. Picnic lunch in Ligonde. We continue to Palas del Rei. Dinner and overnight: Palas De Rei.

Day 5

Palas De Rei – Melide – Aruza, 29km.

After the breakfast we will start riding from medieval  lifestock market slightly downhill and once again marvel at the fabulous Galician countryside, pass the charming villages Aldea de Riba and San Xulián and medieval churches before arriving in the bustling market town of Melide. Here we will taste traditional octopus dish. We continue through Castañeda and Ribadiso to reach Arzúa where we have dinner and spend the night.

Day 6

Aruza – O Pino – Monte do Gozo 38 km.
After breakfast we leave Arzúa, ride through woods, along streams and pass sleepy villages of Salceda and Arca to arrive at O Pino where we stop for lunch. We continue riding through Lavacolla and Monte Do Gozo from where you get your first glimpse of the towers of the Cathedral of Santiago. Diner and overnight: Santiago de Compostella

Day 7

Plaza de Obradoiro
Early start as we must reach Plaza del Obradoiro before 9 o’clock to make the photo with the impressive Baroque façade of the Cathedral. We say goodbye to our horses, have breakfast and we are free to join Compostelana, Pilgrim mass at 12 o’clock in the Santiago Cathedral where you can admire famous thurible Botafumeiro, Portal of Glory or the Crypt.
